That frustration sparked an idea: what if finding a photographer was as easy as ordering a ride or booking a table?

That idea became SurPho—a simple platform connecting people with talented local photographers. While it started with the surf scene, it’s built for everyone: families, athletes, creators, vacationers, events, and small businesses looking for high-quality photos without the hassle or high prices.

At the same time, I was learning to shoot myself. I quickly realized how hard it was for new photographers to find clients or build a portfolio. Most platforms felt too complicated, too expensive, or aimed only at full-time pros.

That’s why SurPho works both ways: making it easy for clients to book, and giving up-and-coming photographers—especially students and young creators—real opportunities to grow.
